Heaven's Alchemy: Luxurious and Unique Perfumery

When I was 10 years old or so, my mother came back from a business trip to Paris. A few nights after she got back, she came up to my room holding a black bag. “I’ve got a surprise for you, and it’s very special.” she said. Then she pulled a tiny bottle of Chanel No. 5 out of her purse. It was housed in a fancy crystal bottle, and it felt heavy when she put it into my tiny cupped hands. “Be careful with it,” she said. “It’s what real grown up ladies wear.”

I love Heaven’s Alchemy perfumes in part because they remind me of that first perfume memory: Heaven’s Alchemy perfume is what real grown up ladies wear who have especially good taste. I love the handcrafted crystal bottles that represent the different cities all over the world (The Dubai and Milan bottles are my favorite), and the scents are all alcohol, paraben, and pthlalate free.

Each Heaven’s Alchemy set is as complex as a glass of great wine. The Paris perfume is a feminine blend of bergamot, citrus, jasmine, and sandalwood. The St. Petersburg perfume is based on spicy lemon and orange notes that create heat to keep out the cold Russian winter. The Istanbul perfume combines fruity notes with hints of tea to recreate the cultural melding that has happened there over the last century.

Each deluxe box set comes with one of the gorgeous 20 ounce crystal bottles, along with two 10 ounce travel bottles. Each set comes beautifully wrapped in a gift box. If you can’t decide which one you want to start with or just feel like taking an a tour around the world, the Heaven’s Alchemy Perfume Samples include .9 ounces of all 15 perfumes so you can discover your favorites. Either way, they make being a real grown up lady feel like a pretty wonderful thing.

Lingerie as Outerwear: Vamping It Up For The Holidays

I think it’s safe to say that Old Man Winter has settled in to stay. My cheeks are chilly, my nose is red and I was eyeing my padded bras as potential earmuffs this morning. Don’t worry; I decided against that desperate move, after all, I can’t very well blog about tastefully incorporating lingerie as outerwear here, while leaving the house like that. I have so many holiday parties coming up over the next few weekends and am in full-on dress-up mode! But the problem with having to attend so many events is that you can begin to run out of different clothing options. So for today’s outfit, I decided to see how I could combine separates for a spectacularly dramatic look. It would be easy to go with a tried and true little black dress and look like everyone else, but I want a punch of color to help me stand out from the sheeple. Nicole Gill’s Elena corset is the perfect choice. The black lace, faux waspie embellishment around the waist will keep the boudoir foremost in everyone’s mind, w

Lingerie as Outerwear: The Strappy Look

Happy New Year! Who doesn’t love a little zing and bling to ring in the New Year? After an incredibly long season of dressing up, sequins and glamour, I have been yearning to create a slightly more hip and fun look. Something that would really let you show off your fabulous taste in lingerie, in a new and unexpected way. Basic black is too easy to sneak into your wardrobe, let’s really take on the challenge this time! For today’s fabulous Lingerie as Outerwear inspiration, I decided to find a lingerie set that is super colourful and a bit bold and what better set to begin with than Rebecca Ansah 's beautiful strappy, blue, Mathilda bandeau bra and Zuri silk and elastic briefs. The bandeau-style bra has plenty of coverage and can be worn alone, if you’re the daring type (and don’t live in a snow covered area as I do), or can act as a crop top and draw the eyes to all of those amazing straps above and below. The supple silk will feel extraordinary, while the mesh and elastic provide
